Maldives is located north of the equator in the Indian Ocean. It has a hot tropical climate with plenty of sunshine and high humidity. Maldives weather is dominated by two monsoon systems which bring both a rainy and dry season each year. November to April is the time for northeast monsoon which create the dry season and calm sunny days. Hence, these months are the busiest tourist season. The season provides an opportunity for relaxation in the gentle coastal breezes. Thus November to April may be the best time to explore the country.
May to October is the rainy season for Maldives. During this season southwest monsoon brings strong winds, torrential rain and rough seas. There is a little variation in temperatures and length of days. |
